The pilot of a small aircraft was killed on Saturday when the single-engine two-seater crashed in the RM of Springfield.

Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened at around 11 a.m. south of Oakbank on the north side of Highway 15.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it is investigating the crash, which occurred just east of Winnipeg.

The body of an adult male was recovered at the scene, and no other occupants were on board.

The TSB says it has deployed a team of investigators to the crash site.
