Winnipeg police have seized more than $2.2 million in illicit drugs following a months-long investigation into drug trafficking within the city.
Police launched the probe in April 2025, ultimately seizing 43 kilograms of methamphetamine, nearly two kilograms of cocaine, $150,000 in cash, and various drug trafficking materials, including scales and packaging equipment. Police say the investigation also uncovered an attempt to mail one kilogram of cocaine, which was intercepted.
On May 15, officers arrested 49-year-old George David MacFarlane outside a home on La Verendrye Street. That same day, search warrants were executed at three Winnipeg residences on La Verendrye Street, Noble Avenue, and Mapleglen Drive.
MacFarlane is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. He was released on an undertaking.
Police continue to investigate.
