Manitoba RCMP are investigating two separate drownings that occurred in the province on Saturday.

Steinbach RCMP were called to Reynolds Ponds in the RM of Reynolds at around 2 p.m. after a man failed to resurface while swimming. Bystanders attempted to find him before emergency crews arrived.

The Manitoba RCMP Underwater Recovery Team later recovered the body of a 70-year-old man from Ontario.

Later that evening around 8 p.m., Selkirk RCMP responded to a drowning at Grand Beach. Two men had fallen off a flotation device into the water. One was rescued by a kayaker, while the second, a 25-year-old Winnipeg man, did not resurface. He was later found and pronounced dead at the scene.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
