A serious crash involving five vehicles shut down a section of Ellice Avenue at Banning Street on Monday morning.
Winnipeg police say a westbound 2017 Nissan Qashqai driven by a man in his 70s rear-ended four vehicles stopped at a red light at around 9 a.m. All vehicles sustained significant damage and were rendered inoperable.
The driver and his female passenger were taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable. No other injuries required hospitalization.
Winnipeg police say the intersection remained closed for much of the day. No arrests have been made.
