Winnipeg police have arrested a man accused of stealing more than $10,000 worth of meat in a string of shoplifting incidents across the city.
Between April 19 and June 11, 2025, police investigated 11 thefts from retail stores where more than $3,000 in merchandise — mostly meat — was stolen.
Police identified a suspect, and on June 21 arrested 32-year-old Joshua Fred Garrioch at a residence in the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue. He was charged with 11 counts of theft under $5,000, along with warrants for failing to attend court and failing to attend for identification.
Police say Garrioch continued the crime spree after his release. Between June 30 and August 31, he allegedly committed another 20 thefts involving over $7,000 worth of meat.
On September 2, just after 11 a.m., Garrioch was arrested again at the same Atlantic Avenue residence. He now faces an additional 16 charges of theft under $5,000 and four new counts of theft under $5,000.
He remains in custody.
