The University of Manitoba has reported record enrolment for the 2025 fall term, with 31,578 students registered on the first day of classes — a 2.3 percent increase over last year.
Full-time enrolment rose 2.1 percent to 27,598, while part-time enrolment grew 3.8 percent to 3,980. Undergraduate enrolment led the gains, climbing 3.0 percent to 27,363 students. Graduate enrolment declined slightly to 3,449, down 1.9 percent.
Indigenous student enrolment saw the largest growth, rising 10.7 percent to 3,248 students.
“This growth reflects our dedication to creating pathways for Indigenous learners and fostering a learning environment that honours Indigenous cultures, languages, and perspectives,” said Angie Bruce, vice-president, (Indigenous).
International student numbers, however, dropped for the second straight year, falling 5.4 percent to 6,085. University officials said they are monitoring the trend closely, citing global shifts in mobility and immigration policy as factors.
Final enrolment figures will be confirmed in November.
