Winnipeg police have charged two people after a bus driver was assaulted during an incident on a Winnipeg Transit bus late Monday night.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Main Street around 10 p.m. on October 13, where a verbal dispute between a male passenger and a 26-year-old bus driver reportedly escalated into violence. Police say the man assaulted the driver while a woman spat on him before both got off the bus. The man then allegedly slashed the outside of the bus with a knife as it drove away.

Officers arrested the pair shortly after in a nearby parking lot.

Reece Alexander John Turnbull, 29, has been charged with assault and four counts of failing to comply with a release order. Emilee Mina Alexis Dubois, 25, faces charges of assault, possession of methamphetamine, and two outstanding warrants for theft under $5,000.

Both suspects remain in custody.
