A Winnipeg police investigation into drug trafficking has led to two arrests and the seizure of more than $400,000 in drugs, cash, and contraband tobacco following searches in the West Kildonan and Garden City areas.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue and arrested the male driver last Sunday, who was found with cocaine and cash. A woman in the vehicle was released without charges.
Search warrants at homes on Jefferson Avenue and Teakwood Avenue uncovered about 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, nearly half a kilogram of cocaine, 271,400 illegal cigarettes, and roughly $21,000 in cash, along with drug packaging materials and a money counter.
A 37-year-old man faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and trafficking in contraband tobacco. A 45-year-old woman was charged with meth trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. Both were released on undertakings.
