The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made it official, signing general manager Kyle Walters and head coach Mike O’Shea to new three-year contract extensions.
The football club first announced the signings on social media last Friday amid a flurry of Grey Cup news, but didn’t provide specifics on the length of the contracts. On Monday, the Blue Bombers confirmed both Walters and O’Shea will remain with Winnipeg through the 2028 CFL season.

O’Shea, already the winningest coach in team history with a 117-77 record, will enter his 12th season with Winnipeg in 2026. He is the CFL’s longest-serving head coach and has led the Bombers to nine straight double-digit win seasons, five consecutive Grey Cup appearances from 2019–24, and championships in 2019 and 2021. O’Shea has twice been named the league’s top coach.
Walters, hired as general manager in 2013, has worked alongside O’Shea since appointing him head coach shortly after taking the job. The 2026 season will mark Walters’ 12th year as GM and 16th with the organization. His tenure has included strong draft results, key trades, and free-agency additions that helped build the roster behind Winnipeg’s recent championship success.
