Operation Red Nose is scheduled to begin for the 2025 season on Friday, November 28. (SAFETY SERVICES MANITOBA)

Operation Red Nose Winnipeg says it may give fewer rides this holiday season, with less than 200 volunteers signed up out of the 600 needed.

The service provides rides home during the holiday season to help prevent impaired driving. Organizers say demand is expected to be high this year, but without enough volunteers, they won’t be able to operate safely or meet requests.

“We cannot do this without the support of our community. We need people to step up now, ” said volunteer media liaison Elisha Dacey.

The organization is seeking volunteers for driving, navigating, and dispatch roles. Training is provided and shifts are flexible.

Those interested can sign up online at rednosewinnipeg.ca/volunteer.
