Winnipeg police arrested a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man following a robbery and assault on Furby Street on Tuesday.

Police say a 19-year-old man was walking on Furby between Cornish Avenue and Wolseley Avenue at about 6 p.m. when he was approached by two suspects who asked him for a cigarette. The victim was then thrown to the ground, assaulted, and robbed of his cellphone.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Patrol officers responded and took over the investigation. A review of nearby CCTV footage provided a detailed description of the suspects and led officers to their location.

Police arrested a woman and a man at a residence in the same block just before 7:30 p.m. The victim’s stolen property was recovered.

Both suspects are charged with robbery and were released on an undertaking.
