Winnipeg police have arrested eight people and seized firearms, drugs and cash following a drug trafficking and weapons investigation in St. James.
Police say officers began investigating a residence in the 300 block of Rutland Street in December 2025 after receiving information about suspected drug trafficking and the possible presence of firearms.
Officers executed a search warrant at the residence on Wednesday, where they seized a loaded .22-calibre rifle, a loaded .40-calibre Smith & Wesson handgun, ammunition, two sets of bows and arrows, cocaine and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $1,300, Percocet pills, 11 cellphones, scales, packaging materials, and approximately $10,000 in cash.
Those arrested include a 14-year-old, 17-year-old, 18-year-old and 22-year-old males from Winnipeg, along with a 27-year-old Winnipeg woman. Police say several face multiple charges related to firearms, weapons, drug trafficking, identity fraud, and proceeds of crime. Two youth and the 22-year-old man were detained in custody, while others were released on undertakings.
Three additional male suspects — a 25-year-old, 23-year-old and 18-year-old from Calgary — were also arrested and face multiple charges related to firearms, drug trafficking and proceeds of crime. All three were detained in custody.
