RCMP are investigating after human remains were found inside a burned vehicle in the RM of Springfield late Wednesday night.
Oakbank RCMP say officers were called just after 10:30 p.m. after a truck was reported on fire near Briercliffe Road. Police and the Springfield Fire Department arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames in a ditch.
After the fire was extinguished, human remains were located inside the truck.
An autopsy and dental record review have been ordered to confirm the victim’s identity.
RCMP say they are also investigating whether icy road conditions may have contributed to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
