A 15-year-old boy from Leaf Rapids has been charged after allegedly stabbing a police officer during an incident at the community’s health centre.
Leaf Rapids RCMP say they were called to the health centre on Tuesday at around 10:15 a.m. after staff reported a youth had entered the building seeking medical assistance but was refusing to cooperate.
An officer attended and attempted to speak with the youth in a room inside the facility. Police say the youth then pulled out a knife and stabbed the officer in the hand and upper body.
The officer called for backup, and with assistance from health centre staff, the youth was taken into custody following a struggle that included the use of a Taser.
The officer was treated for injuries and is expected to recover. No other injuries were reported.
The boy has been charged with multiple offences and remains in custody.
