An 18-year-old man has been charged following a knife-related assault inside a building on Portage Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Winnipeg police say officers were called at around 5:30 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of a suspect armed with a knife causing a disturbance in the 300 block of Portage Avenue.

According to police, the suspect entered a building and knocked a man to the ground while armed with the knife. The victim was able to disarm the suspect, and several bystanders intervened to help restrain him until police arrived.
