Big changes are on the way for one of Winnipeg’s major shopping centres.
Kildonan Place has announced a $30 million redevelopment project aimed at transforming the mall with a new zero-waste food court, a redesigned entrance and new retailers.
The project includes relocating and expanding the food court, demolishing the former theatre space and introducing new and returning food vendors. Once complete, the number of food units will increase from eight to 10, while seating will grow from 325 to 550.

Kildonan Place’s guest services and administration areas will also receive a refresh. (HANDOUT)
Mall officials say the new food court will be brighter, more spacious and designed with sustainability in mind, using composting, recycling and waste-reduction strategies to divert significant waste from landfills.
Demolition of the former theatre began on February 9, 2025, with hoarding now in place around the area. A relocated guest services area is scheduled to open in April, and the new food court is expected to open in early 2027.

The redevelopment will reduce the mall’s gross leasable area by about 30,000 square feet.
Kildonan Place is also welcoming new retailers, including Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop, expected to open later this spring, and a newly relocated Soft Moc opening in April.
The mall says the redevelopment reflects its ongoing effort to modernize the property, which in recent years has also included the addition of the Cineplex Junxion movie theatre.
