Three people have been arrested in Manitoba’s Interlake region as part of a targeted operation by the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit.
The unit, made up of officers from the RCMP and Winnipeg police, travelled to the region on February 26 to locate individuals wanted on outstanding warrants. Officers from the RCMP detachments in Ashern and Lundar also assisted.
Joshua Maytwayashing, 39, of Lake St. Martin First Nation, was arrested in Ashern on a warrant for assault and failing to comply with release conditions. He was later released on a release order with a future court date.
Matthew Bedard, 40, of Eriksdale, was arrested at his home on two warrants, including one from Selkirk RCMP for sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and administering a noxious substance. A second warrant from Sicamous, B.C., alleges sexual assault and sexual interference. Bedard has been remanded in custody and will be returned to British Columbia.
In a separate incident, Lundar RCMP arrested 26-year-old Ivory Maytwayashing during a traffic stop on Highway 417 in Lake Manitoba First Nation. She was wanted for theft of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with release conditions, and has also been remanded in custody.
