A traffic stop in Winnipeg’s North End led to the seizure of a loaded handgun and the arrest of an 18-year-old man on multiple firearms charges.

Police say officers stopped a taxi just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, near the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and McGregor Street to address a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Police say the passenger attempted to flee during the stop but was quickly taken into custody. During the arrest, officers found a loaded fully-automatic Glock 20 Gen4 handgun equipped with an auto sear. Investigators also determined the suspect was breaching a firearms prohibition order.
