WINNIPEG — Ahead of Tuesday’s provincial budget, Premier Wab Kinew announced Manitoba will remove PST from all grocery items.
“No tax on groceries. That’s right, we’re taking all provincial taxes off food from the grocery store,” Kinew said in an Instagram post.
“That quick stop on the way home picking up the rotisserie chicken, salad and drinks for the family — right now, you’re paying PST on that.”
If the budget passes, Manitobans could see the changes to their grocery bill as early as July.
The change is a key part of a budget that promises to focus on affordability and health care.
