WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad drew 1,272 registered riders Saturday in its 18th annual run, raising more than $535,000 for prostate cancer research and education.
The milestone event pushes the ride’s cumulative fundraising total past $6.5 million since its inception, with all proceeds staying in Manitoba.
Riders departed from Earls Polo Park and headed west along Portage Avenue — rerouted to Moray Street due to construction — before continuing north through Selkirk and Gimli and back to Winnipeg.
The day will wrap up with a celebration at Cowboys at Canad Inns Windsor Park.
“We had another amazing turnout of Riders and spectators,” said MRFD co-chair and founding member Moe Sabourin. “Thank you to all registered riders, pledge donors, sponsors, media partners and volunteers.”
Celebrity ride captains included former Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Adam Bighill and country artist Jason McCoy, who also serves as the national Ride for Dad ambassador.
