A 30-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a vehicle theft and a fire that caused approximately $2.25 million in damage in the Linden Woods industrial area last month.
Winnipeg police say on the evening of May 31, a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the 1-99 block of Fennell Street was broken into and had property stolen from inside.
Shortly after, a commercial building across the street in the 1500 block of Seel Avenue caught fire, causing roughly $1.75 million in damage to the building and another $500,000 in damage to its contents, affecting two businesses.
On June 21, officers arrested Keishya Marie Fontaine on an unrelated matter in the 600 block of Furby Street. During the investigation, officers allegedly connected her to the May 31 incidents.
Fontaine has been charged with arson causing damage to property, mischief under $5,000, and theft under $5,000. She remains in custody.
