WINNIPEG — The federal government is investing more than $10.2 million to help six Manitoba organizations develop and use artificial intelligence.
The announcement was made in Winnipeg on Tuesday by Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Evan Solomon, during an event with the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.
The funding is part of Canada’s AI for All strategy, which aims to help small and medium-sized businesses adopt AI tools, scale operations and keep talent and economic value in Canada.
“Businesses and innovators are the backbone of our economy, and many are looking to use artificial intelligence to unlock productivity,” said Solomon. “By harnessing AI and building trust in how it is developed and deployed, we are driving growth and shared prosperity in Manitoba and across the country.”
Officials say the investment will support the creation of more than 170 jobs in Manitoba and assist 35 small and medium-sized enterprises across industries including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, advertising and support services.
The six recipients to receive AI-related funding are:
- Construction Clock Inc. — $471,352
- Aryval Ltd. — $500,000
- mode40 ltd. — $800,000
- Manitoba Construction Sector Council Inc. — $1,140,000
- ExpensePoint — $2,319,784
- Taiv Inc. — $5,000,000
