The 51st Winnipeg Folk Festival is officially sold out before opening day, a first for the event.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at Birds Hill Provincial Park for the sold-out festival.

Organizers say no tickets will be available at the gate and no additional tickets will be released. They’re warning against purchasing tickets through third-party platforms, noting many listings are scams or counterfeits. The festival says it cannot verify tickets bought through third-party sellers or provide remedies for fraudulent purchases.

Attendees can expect a lineup of performances, artistic highlights and special events throughout the festival.

Thursday’s opening will see special ceremonies to bless the main stage before it opens to performances.

Grandmother Chickadee will open the festival with a blessing, joined by Giinawind Riverbend Community School?Abinoojiiyag?Nagamog, an Indigenous children’s choir from the Ojibwe bilingual program in the Seven Oaks School Division.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival will welcome more than 73 performers between July 9 and 12, 2026. The complete festival lineup can be found at winnipegfolkfestival.ca.
