A former Manitoba member of parliament has been charged after an investigation into firearms trafficking in the Dauphin area.
Manitoba RCMP executed two search warrants at the home of Inky Mark in Dauphin on July 7 as part of a months-long investigation.
Mounties originally began looking into Mark, 78, back in March 2026 when they were notified firearms charges had been laid in the United States against a 73-year-old Dauphin-area man. This prompted an investigation that resulted in further charges being laid against that individual.
“While executing a search warrant in that case, RCMP found and seized firearms that were purchased by a second suspect and never lawfully transferred,” RCMP said in a release on Monday.
“After further investigation, two warrants to search the second suspect’s home were obtained by the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST).”
In total, 439 firearms were seized from the property, as was an antique cannon, ammunition and more than $300,000 in cash.
Mounties say it’s expected to take several more weeks to document the large collection of evidence gathered at the residence and determine how many of the firearms were illegally possessed. So far, at least three firearms are believed to have been illegally trafficked, and one firearm had its serial number tampered with, say police.

Mark is charged with firearm trafficking, as well as possession, careless use and unsafe storage of firearms.
He has since been released from custody pending a court date.
Mark was elected under the Reform Party in Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette in 1997 and didn’t seek re-election as a Conservative MP in 2010.
