Four suspects have been arrested after a 19-year-old man was allegedly beaten, bound and abandoned in a wooded area near Killarney.
Manitoba RCMP received a report of the assault at approximately 11:20 p.m. on July 13, after learning the victim was preparing to leave the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain by vehicle when he was allegedly attacked by multiple males.
Police allege the suspects held the victim down, wrapped him in a blanket, and duct-taped his ankles and hands before assaulting him with a stick. The suspects then allegedly took two cellphones and two small knives from the victim, loaded him into the back of an off-road vehicle, and dropped him off near a wooded area some distance away, police said. Three of the suspects were partially masked, according to RCMP.
The victim was able to free himself from the tape and make it home, at which point RCMP were contacted.
Four suspects from the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain, ranging in age from 16 to 31, have since been arrested.
Justin Gross, 31, Gideon Waldner, 22, and Jayden Waldner, 26, are each charged with forcible confinement, disguise with intent to commit an offence, overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence, and robbery.
A 16-year-old male, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with forcible confinement, robbery with a weapon, and overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence.
All four were released pending court appearances. RCMP continue to investigate.
