Two women have been charged after allegedly attempting to steal from a retail business in the 1100 block of Concordia Avenue Thursday evening.
An off-duty officer observed one of the women stealing merchandise just after 6 p.m. and intervened outside the store, identifying himself as a Winnipeg police officer. Police allege the suspect refused to comply with arrest, while a second suspect deliberately interfered and attempted to obstruct the officer, leading both women to flee the scene.
On-duty officers responded to the area and located both suspects nearby a short time later.
A 21-year-old woman is facing charges of robbery, resisting a peace officer and assaulting a peace officer. A 38-year-old woman is facing a charge of obstructing a peace officer.
Both women were released on undertakings.
