Three people are facing drug, weapons and proceeds of crime charges after a traffic stop in Winnipeg’s North End.
Officers on patrol Friday night pulled over a sedan on Powers Street near Flora Avenue for a smashed windshield at around 8:30 a.m. Police say they spotted a weapon in plain view and arrested all three occupants.
A search turned up a machete, plastic brass knuckles with a functioning taser, about 73 grams of fentanyl, nine grams of cocaine and 13 grams of crack cocaine, with a combined estimated street value of about $5,400. Police also seized prescription pills, scales, packaging, cellphones and $790 in cash.
Anthony Courchene, 41, is charged with multiple offences. He was also arrested on two Powerview RCMP warrants for assault and release order compliance charges, and was detained in custody.
The 31-year-old male driver and a 33-year-old female passenger also face multiple drugs and weapons charges. Both were released on undertakings.
