Winnipeg Public Library branches will extend their operating hours beginning September 3, providing residents with increased access to library services.
The updated schedule includes year-round Wednesday openings for all branches, expanded Saturday hours in the summer, and additional Sunday hours in the fall and winter, resulting in a 9.7 percent increase in annual operating hours.
Key changes include:
- Opening all 20 libraries on Wednesdays year-round (up from nine).
- Expanding Sunday openings in the fall and winter from six to 10 libraries.
- Increasing summer Saturday openings from three to 10 libraries.
- Adjusting opening times for several branches, with six libraries shifting from 10 a.m. to noon on select weekdays and other branches, including Osborne and Windsor Park, extending morning hours.
The expanded hours aim to enhance accessibility and ensure that more residents can take advantage of the services offered by Winnipeg’s public libraries.
