WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Bisons women’s basketball team celebrated former standout Terri-Lee Johannesson’s induction into the Canada West Hall of Fame on Sunday afternoon.
Johannesson, a key player in the Bisons’ back-to-back national championships in 1996 and 1997, was recognized during the team’s home opener against the Brandon Bobcats at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
Johannesson’s impact on the Bisons was immediate and lasting. Known for her MVP-level performance, she earned three CIAU All-Canadian titles and was twice named the national championship tournament MVP. Her achievements helped secure the Bisons’ place in U SPORTS history as one of only nine teams to repeat as national champions.
Joining her former coach and mentor Coleen Dufresne in the Canada West Hall of Fame, Johannesson is celebrated as one of the Bisons’ all-time greats. The Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024-25 was announced in September, with individual inductee spotlights continuing throughout the season. Fans can view past inductees on the Canada West Hall of Fame website.
