Manitoba Hosts Free Winter Family Fishing Weekend

February 13, 2025 6:01 AM CDT | News

Ice Fishing

Manitobans and visitors can enjoy ice fishing for free across the province during this year’s Winter Family Fishing Weekend from February 15 to 17.

For three days, anglers can fish without a licence, except in national parks where a federal permit is still required. All size and possession limits remain in effect.

To encourage outdoor recreation, the province is also offering free entry to provincial parks throughout February. While vehicle permits are not required, snowmobilers must still have Snopasses to use groomed trails.

Anglers are reminded to check ice conditions for safety and follow aquatic invasive species regulations by cleaning, draining, and drying their gear.
