CBC, Corus Radio Hiring Reporter, Exec. Assistant

CBC Radio-Canada is looking for the next energetic on-air personality to fill a reporter/editor position. The opportunity would see the candidate report on traffic and community events in Winnipeg, as well as work with Larry Updike daily on “Up to Speed.”

The position also calls for the contribution to newscasts and current affairs programs for CBC/Radio-Canada in Manitoba, as well as to regional and national news and current affairs programs.

Corus Radio Winnipeg is hiring a temporary executive assistant who will be responsible for reporting to the general manager.

The candidate will provide administrative support to sales and management teams at CJOB, Power 97 and 99.1 FM.

Global’s Nelly Gonzalez Moving to the CBC

Global Winnipeg reporter Nelly Gonzalez is leaving the city for a new position in Western Manitoba.

Gonzalez will be the CBC’s reporter in Brandon, bringing viewers stories from in and around the Westman region.

“I’m very excited and looking forward to the new challenges ahead,” Gonzalez said in an e-mail on Friday.

She has been Global’s general assignment reporter since 2003.

Nelly’s last day at Global will be Friday, October 28.

CBC Manitoba Hiring a Videographer

CBC Manitoba is seeking a videographer for its English news programming.

The successful candidate must have certification through a community college in an appropriate discipline such as television arts, as well as three years of practical and relevant experience.

Other qualifications are listed in the job description.

The deadline to apply for the position at Canada’s federal broadcaster is October 8, 2011.

CBC National anchor Peter Mansbridge will be in Winnipeg on November 4 to be a guest speaker at a fundraiser.

Mansbridge will lend his celebrity to the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation and The Tallman Foundation during a joint fundraiser at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

Mansbridge’s daughter, who lives in Winnipeg, chairs a committee for the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation and organizers have been working to create an intimate setting and unique experience for those who attend.

The renowned Canadian newsman will share insights and stories from his award-winning broadcasting career.

CBC Manitoba Hiring Two New Videographers

CBC Manitoba is adding to its roster of videographers, posting two separate positions on Monday.

The federal broadcaster is hiring videographers for both English and French programming, both of which require three years of practical and relevant experience, among other qualifications.

The deadline to apply for both of the positions is September 6, 2011.

CBC fun fact: The station does not permit its videographers to bring their gear home, contrary to some other local TV stations. Critics have said this puts the CBC at a disadvantage when it comes to covering breaking news stories.

CBC Radio-Canada Seeking Two Reporters

CBC Radio-Canada has two immediate openings for a French reporter/editor in Winnipeg.

The federal broadcaster posted the positions (#1, #2) over the weekend.

Qualifications include in part an undergraduate university degree along with TV reporting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The deadline to apply for the positions is August 20, 2011.

CBC’s Adrienne Pan Moving to Edmonton

CBC Winnipeg Late Night news anchor Adrienne Pan is wrapping up her final week in the city.

Pan will assume the same position at CBC Edmonton when she begins on May 24.

Her last day in Winnipeg will be May 13.

Pan has been with CBC Manitoba since 2007, and in November 2009 was tasked with hosting the abbreviated late night newscast.

The move will also allow Pan to be closer to family, she tells ChrisD.ca.

Lyndsay Duncombe — I’m Going to Hollywood!

CBC Manitoba reporter Lyndsay Duncombe is packing her bags. And no, she didn’t advance to the next round of “American Idol” auditions.

Duncombe is leaving her position in Winnipeg and moving to the U.S. to become a producer at the network’s Los Angeles bureau.

She made the announcement a few weeks ago to friends on her Facebook page, but only first tweeted about it on Tuesday.

The Saskatchewan native began her career at the CBC in 2001 and has worked in Prince Albert and Toronto since then.

Her last day in Winnipeg is April 1. She will begin in L.A. on April 18.
