Former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Bryant Turner Retires in Blue and Gold

Former defensive tackle Bryant Turner Jr. signed a one-day contract Tuesday to retire as a Winnipeg Blue Bomber.

Turner spent five seasons with Winnipeg (2011-2015) and appeared in 71 games with the Blue and Gold. During his time with the Blue Bombers, Turner recorded 26 sacks, five forced fumbles and 75 total tackles. He played in three playoff games for the Bombers, including the 2011 Grey Cup.

WINNIPEG — Andrew Harris is hoping to enjoy two big celebrations at Investors Group Field this weekend.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back is ready to pound out the yards to try for a second straight victory over the Toronto Argonauts Friday night. He’ll then host a wedding social the next night at the stadium for himself and fiancee Carina Fiorentino.

Blue Bombers Add Quarterback Mitchell Gale to Practice Roster

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed international quarterback Mitchell Gale to the team’s practice roster.

The Oklahoma native played five seasons in the CFL, throwing for 1,050 yards and four touchdowns on 158 passing attempts. Gale spent his four-year college career with the Abilene Christian Wildcats, throwing for 97 touchdowns and over 12,000 passing yards. Gale has spent time with the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders and BC Lions.

WINNIPEG — A new professional soccer team will take to the pitch next year under the Canadian Premier League.

The professional men’s team will be branded as Valour FC, a tribute to three brave Winnipeg soldiers who fought in World War I and later all lived on Pine Street, which was renamed Valour Road in their honour.
