A Manitoba-produced film has been nominated by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television for the 30th Annual Genie Awards. “Runway” was acknowledged in the Best Animated Short category, and features a “driverless train in which happy passengers are having a great time, oblivious to the fate that awaits them around the bend. The ensuing crisis leads to a class struggle that is as amusing as it is merciless – with everyone equal in the end.”

The 9-minute film was executive produced by Derek Mazur of the National Film Board and animated by Cordell Barker. This is the third short film by Barker

The 30th Genie Awards will take place Monday, April 12 in Toronto. Broadcast details have yet to be announced.
