A mobile office will be set up in the town of Emerson on Friday to accept disaster financial (DFA) assistance applications after last weekend’s rain storm.
Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) will be there to answer questions and provide advice on cleanup.
The office will be in front of the Emerson Town Hall at 104 Church St. between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. EMO has received 208 calls and has received 106 private-property DFA applications from across the province so far.
Manitoba EMO recommends that property owners take pictures of damages, save receipts for repairs to their property, keep an inventory of anything they throw out or dispose of and contact their insurance company.
Further information on the DFA program and helpful information on how to clean up after a flood is available at ManitobaEMO.ca or by calling 1-888-267-8298.
