Many questions still remain about the sun, and this week, Oak Hammock Marsh will try to answer them.
The marsh is presenting Astronomy Night on Thursday, July 15 at 8 p.m. as a way to educate the public on the sun’s structure as well as the techniques for safely observing it. An indoor presentation will be followed by an observation session from the rooftop.
On August 20, a Star Party will take place, where people can meet members of the Royal Astronomy Society of Canada, and enjoy a night of sky watching with fellow stargazers.
A number of other astronomy events (PDF) are planned leading all the way up December, including sessions on fall constellations, migration, northern lights and winter constellations.
Oak Hammock Marsh is located about 20 minutes north of Winnipeg just off PR 220.
