Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg is calling on artists to showcase their work in the upcoming ReStore’s ReCreate Art Exhibition and Sale.

The theme this year is “Extreme Green,” and will challenge local artists to recreate any kind of work of art depicting their interpretation of the exciting new theme.

The event will be held at the ReStore from March 16 to 19, with all proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity Winnipeg.

The idea is to raise awareness to the Habitat ReStore and how it contributes to reducing, reusing and recycling household and commercial materials. Artists can redeem a $25 gift certificate at the ReStore to be used towards their art creations. They must follow the rule that their final art piece contain material from the ReStore, or a recycled, reused component.

Application forms are available at Habitat.mb.ca or by e-mailing recreate@habitat.mb.ca. Applications are due by January 14, 2011. This year, there is a selection panel to limit the number of artists, with those accepted being contacted directly until January 21.
