The REDress Project will be launched Thursday at the University of Winnipeg.
The U of W’s Institute for Women’s and Gender Studies (IWGS), in partnership with local Métis artist Jaime Black, is meant to raise awareness surrounding the murders and disappearances of more than 500 Aboriginal women across Canada.
The interdisciplinary on-campus art and education project will debut in the Duckworth Centre Lounge from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The campus-wide installation of the REDress Project will take place during International Women’s Week from March 7-12, 2011.
Donations of new or gently used red dresses of any size or style for installation in the project are now being accepted.
