March 15, 2011 1:07 PM | News

A 16-year-old boy from Steinbach was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday night.

RCMP say the collision happened at about 10:30 p.m. on PR 303 east of PR 216 in the RM of Hanover.

According to police, a 1999 Suzuki travelling westbound crossed the centreline of the highway, colliding with an eastbound semi-trailer truck.

The teen driving the Suzuki was taken to Steinbach hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured, but was also taken to hospital for examination.

Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, but RCMP note weather conditions at the time included blowing and drifting snow with icy roads.
