
RBC Building, 220 Portage Avenue
About 88 brave souls will rappel down 17 storeys today in support of SMD Foundation/Easter Seals Manitoba.
The 7th annual Easter Seals Drop Zone will see dedicated “superheroes” make their way down the RBC Building at 220 Portage Avenue as part of the fundraiser.
All Drop Zone participants raise a minimum of $1,500 in pledges in order to participate in the in rappelling 200 feet down the building.
In 2010, more than $140,000 was raised in Manitoba. This year, the goal is to raise in excess of $160,000, with all funds raised staying in Manitoba to support vital programs and services that reach over 47,000 children, youth and adults with disabilities per year.
This year’s media participants include Brenna Rose (Global Winnipeg), Adam West (Hot 103), George Denoon (Winnipeg Free Press), Maralee Caruso (CTV Winnipeg), John Sauder (CBC Manitoba), Meera Bahadoosingh (Shaw TV), Jeremy John (Citytv) and Jay Oliver (102.3 Clear FM).
The Drop Zone runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public can watch from the courtyard at 201 Portage Avenue across the street. Entertainment and food will be provided.
