Slippery road conditions are being blamed on a two-vehicle crash on Highway 5 that killed an 80-year-old woman from the RM of Alonsa.

Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened November 7 just before 10 a.m. about one kilometre east of Highway 10.

The woman was travelling westbound driving a Ford Five Hundred sedan when it collided with an eastbound Ford pickup truck. The driver of the car was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

The occupants of the pickup truck — a 75-year-old man and his 71-year-old female passenger from the Gilbert Plains area — were treated for minor injuries.

No charges are expected to be laid.

The name of the deceased isn’t being released.
