Gift-Giving Program for Seniors Launches for the Season

November 13, 2012 11:00 AM | News

A holiday program that helps low income Winnipeg seniors to have an enjoyable Christmas has returned for another year.

Be a Santa to a Senior held its launch Tuesday morning at Victoria General Hospital. The program provides gifts to struggling seniors and helps to curb their loneliness during the holiday season.

The public can pick up ornaments with the first names of seniors and their gift requests from Christmas trees that will be up at Victoria General Hospital beginning today through November 16, or the local Home Instead Senior Care, 581 Sargent Avenue, starting November 19. Gifts can be returned along with their ornaments by November 30 to Victoria Hospital or December 7 to the Home Instead Senior Care office.

More than 700 gifts were delivered to low income seniors last year.
