SnowshoeingWith winter fast approaching, a local outdoor retailer is ensuring Winnipeggers won’t be left out in the cold.

Mountain Equipment Co-op is presenting MEC SnowFest on Saturday, November 23. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the store at 303 Portage Avenue will offer a number of free activities to get you ready for the colder weather.

“As season’s change, so do recreational opportunities. If you want to get outdoors and be active this winter, SnowFest is a great place to learn about different options,” said Alisa Birnie of MEC Winnipeg and organizer of MEC SnowFest.

The public can swap their winter gear for the latest technology, enjoy complimentary beverages and cookies, and take in samples from vendors Lara Bar, Taste of Nature, energy gels and others. A crafts table for kids will also be available.

For the active outdoors-type, a number of clinics will be held, from cycling and running in the winter, to nordic ski and snowboard waxing, and skijoring.
