RCMP Crest LogoTwo snowmobilers were rescued in the Lac du Bonnet area after spending Saturday night outdoors.

Two men, aged 22 and 29, left their cabin on Saturday at around 4 p.m. to go snowmobiling. When they didn’t return as scheduled, a search was called just before 11:30 p.m.

RCMP say the men were headed towards an area known as Anson Hut. With the help of two members of the Lee River Snow Riders and the local fire department, the men were found Sunday morning just before 9 a.m. on the Anson snowmobile trail.

One of the snowmobiles had broken down and both men went through the ice in an attempt to get to the Anson Hut for shelter.

They were both taken to hospital and are listed in stable condition.
