Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street (HANDOUT)
The power of social media will dictate how much money and food is raised to bolster Siloam Mission’s annual easter dinner this weekend.
During its fifth annual #Shop4Siloam charity event on Wednesday, the Winnipeg food bank will be soliciting donations by utilizing Twitter through a partnership with ICUC.
“We truly enjoy being involved with this very important and worthy cause that helps the less fortunate in Winnipeg,” said ICUC CEO Keith Bilous, setting the bar high for another successful event. “Each year we try to beat the previous year’s goals and this year we intend to set new records.”
#Shop4Siloam is a full-day opportunity for people to shop for and drop off much needed groceries items, as well as cash donations. The event will be promoted and live-tweeted by @ICUC and @SiloamMission using the hashtag #Shop4Siloam.
A collection point will be located outside of Sobey’s at 1939 Bishop Grandin Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those unable to make it out, donations can be made on Siloam’s website.
