Building on the success of Bike to Work Day, the city is launching Bike Week Winnipeg, running June 16-22.

The first annual event will include bike-friendly happenings across the city, such as traveling dinners, group rides and workshops, as well as leisure and cultural events.

“Active transportation is an accessible and affordable, and environmentally-friendly and healthy way for Winnipeggers to commute to work or spend quality time with family and friends,” said Mayor Sam Katz.

Bike Week Winnipeg has partnered with Mountain Equipment Co-op’s BikeFest, Downtown Biz’s A Moveable Feast, bike polo, Bike Winnipeg’s cycling workshop and Woodcock Cycle’s group ride, to offer an array of events for many different age groups and abilities.

All events are open to the public, and free unless otherwise indicated on Bike Week Winnipeg’s event schedule.

The seventh annual Bike to Work Day is Friday, June 20.
