The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed infielder/outfielder Josh Mazzola for the 2015 season.
Mazzola, 28, played in 97 games for the Goldeyes last season, hitting .265 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI. He also had a career-high 17 stolen bases and played four positions in the field – first base, third base, shortstop and right field.
“Mazz is a special player in this league,” manager Rick Forney said. “His offensive numbers for the three years he’s been with us have been very, very good. He produces a lot of extra-base hits and RBI. He’s a great defender as well and can play multiple positions. He has a lot of value on our club.”
Mazzola played in the San Francisco Giants system for four seasons as an undrafted free agent before coming to Winnipeg.
The Goldeyes now have 20 players signed for the 2015 season, including 11 pitchers and nine position players.
