A program between Siloam Mission and the Homeless Partners Christmas Wish List is hoping to fulfill 177 Christmas gift wishes for clients of the homeless shelter this holiday season.
Profiles on 70 people who rely on Siloam’s services were written and paired with their requested gifts.
“For many of our clients it has been years since they have received a gift for Christmas,” said Amy Reinink, manager of transition services at Siloam Mission. “This program has given them the opportunity to feel cared for and valued in a tangible way.”
It’s the second year Winnipeg is participating in the project. The program generated 1,200 pledges to homeless recipients across Canada last year.
More than 2,000 men and women cope with homelessness in Winnipeg.
