Manitoba’s Liberal Party would assign a minister specifically to tackle Lake Winnipeg issues if elected.

Leader Rana Bokhari says her government would amend the Phosphorus Reduction Act to eliminate phosphorus from all soaps including industrial-use soaps and detergents.

“Manitoba has some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in the world and we need to start taking concrete steps to protect them or the next generation will not be able to enjoy them,” Bokhari said.

Bokhari said she would also introduce legislation banning micro beads from all products sold in Manitoba similar to legislations passed in the United States and in progress in Ontario.
