Shaw Internet customers can now download music and movies at faster speeds than ever before.

The Calgary-based communications company has introduced WideOpen Internet 150, meaning customers can download at up to 150 Mbps. The plan, however, includes a less than desirable upload speed of only 15 Mbps for video producers and other content creators.

The new plan is available as of today for $49/month for the first year, $79/month for the second year and then $135/month thereafter.

“Virtually all neighbourhoods across Western Canada have access to Shaw WideOpen Internet 150,” said Chris Kucharski, president, consumer, Shaw Communications. “Our competitors can’t offer these speeds to even half as many homes as Shaw.”

WideOpen Internet 150 includes 1 TB of data per month.
