This season’s Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra performance of Handel’s Messiah will have a special guest at the helm.

Tania Miller, music director of Victoria Symphony, will join the WSO to guest conduct December 2-3 at the Centennial Concert Hall.

Miller, the first Canadian woman ever to be music director of a major Canadian symphony orchestra, celebrates her 14th season leading the Victoria Symphony this year.

“I have great memories of working with the musicians of the Winnipeg Symphony, and I enjoy them very much. They are great artists, and I know it’s going to be a beautiful experience working with them on the Messiah, a piece that is very close and dear to my heart,” said Miller.

Both evenings feature a stellar cast of soloists including soprano Jennie Such, baritone Michael Nyby, and Winnipeggers alto Kirsten Schellenberg, and tenor Justin Odwak.

Tickets start at $25 and are available through the WSO box office at (204) 949-3999 or through Ticketmaster.
